Fleuve

Eng | Fruit of the collaborative effort between father and daughter, Julie-Anne wanted to immortalize 40 years of her father Yves’ musical compositions. Their undeniable chemistry was bolstered by producer and musical arranger Olaf Gundel, who captured the essence of each song with sensitivity, strengthening their fundamental magnetism.
Fleuve quickly distinguished itself on the Canadian music scene, earning a nomination at the 2026 Opus Awards presented by the Conseil québécois de la musique in the category Album of the Year – Early, Classical, Romantic, Modern, and Postmodern Impulses, as well as a nomination at the 2026 Canadian Folk Music Awards for Solo Instrumentalist of the Year.
Led by the distinctive sound of an 18-string guitar, Fleuve is an ode to the power of nature, inspired by the Saint Lawrence River—an inexhaustible source of creativity for the composer. Yves’ complex guitar technique and unique approach to the instrument reveal the influence of Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell, while the album’s production also echoes the expansive, atmospheric sensibility of Pink Floyd.
The album launch concert was met with a full house, the audience held spellbound by the musical interplay between Yves, Olaf Gundel on lap steel, and Cédric Dind-Lavoie on bass.
« Inspiration comes like the tide, an inexplicable pulsation that asserts its origin. I’ve always been fascinated by the Saint-Lawrence river. Its effect has been stamped to my core which translates through my creativity. Deep, calm and tempestuous green waters full of history; the songs on this album reflect its changing nature.
My guitar has two necks that are tuned differently and played at the same time. Whether it’s the north or south shore, the harmonies that ensue accompany me along my meandering where folk, blues, classical join like so many affluents that lead to the river. »
